Sunshine Blogger Award x 2

Well, howdy there!  Look who decided to drop by and fill out two tags that have been sitting around since...

....since WHEN??!!

No way!  I was tagged with these back in APRIL AND MAY OF 2017??????  Guys!  Where HAS the time gone?  These tags are practically a year old already!!!

*gulp* and *double gulp*

How did this happen?

"Close your mouth, Michael.  We are not a codfish."

Okay.  So I'm a procrastinator.  And not just any procrastinator, but a procrastinator of epic proportions.  I know it.  And now you know it.  Let's collect our scattered wits, pull ourselves out of our current stupor of disbelief, and try and move past it, shall we?

~Sunshine Blogger Award x 2~

I was tagged by both Mary and Jem Jones.  Each with their own set of questions.  So this may prove to be a rather lengthy post.  Just sayin'.  Oh and for the record, here's Mary's original post and Jem's original post, just so you know that I really was tagged for these.  And that yes, it really was almost a year ago.  (Why do you have to keep bringing that up?  You're embarrassing me.)

Thank you Jem and Mary for two delightful tags!  And my apologies for taking so long to fill them out!!

Mary's Questions:

1. Do you like to read an entire series at once or spread out the books over time?
Probably read it all at once, because when I'm in the mood for a particular series, I'm the mood for it.  Why spread it out?  :)

2. Would you rather be stuck in the past or the future?
Oh my.  I guess I'll have to choose the past on this one as I have experience there and know what I'm getting myself into.  However, neither choice is very nice.  *pouts*  Because I doesn't want to be stuck in either of those places, thank you very much.  Stickiness is all very well in a...well in a deliciously sweet piece of chocolate fudge or something...but in life?  Neh.  Not so comfortable to be stucked.

3. Have you ever had dream re-runs? (In other words, the same dream twice. XD)
I know I've felt as though I was having a dream re-run before, but I can never quite decide whether it really is one or not.

I could swear, I've been here before.
At least...I think I have.

4. What is your favorite vacation you've ever taken?
Oh, I don't know.  There's so many good ones.  Too many to choose from.

5. Do you like to chew gum? If so, what is your favorite flavor?
I do like to chew gum, but I don't do it often enough to have any sort of opinion on flavors.  I think I don't like the bubble gum flavor as much as I used to though.  At any rate, that last piece of bubble gum I had lost it's flavor far too quickly.  It was really quite scandalous.  And I payed 25 cents to get it, too!  (It was a gumball.  A purple one.  From a gumball machine.  I got to put the coin in all myself and watch the gumball go spiraling down to the opening.  A childhood thrill, you know?  At the age of twenty-five.)

Okay, so sometimes childhood thrills come later in life.  What of that?  (And childhood disappointments, too, apparently because...where's the flavor gone?  I've only had this thing in my mouth for like TWO minutes!!  LIFE IS SO NOT FAIR!)

"Thought you were going to get something tasty?
Mwahaha!  Jokes on you!"

6. If you found the entrance to Narnia, would you tell anybody? Who would you take with you if you did?
I would definitely tell my sixteen-year-old brother, and take him along with me.  He's the Narnia geek in our family.  Once he read the entire series seven times in the space of a year.  So yeah, leaving him out of such a discovery would be unthinkable!

7. Waffles, pancakes, or neither?
Is that the only choice for breakfast, or are there donuts hanging around somewhere for one lucky person?  Because to be honest, I never was a huge waffle or pancake person.  However, if it's a choice between that and eating nothing...

Just tell me there are donuts, and I'll go away happy.

8. Do you use the Shift key or the Caps Lock key every time you capitalize something? (Odd question, but it's something I always wonder, haha.)
The shift key.  All the time.  Unless I'm doing a whole string of capitals, then I'll use Caps Lock.  (Oh.  And another tidbit.  I never use the Shift key on the right side of the keyboard.  I only ever use the left-handed one.  Don't ask me why.   I've just always done it that way.)

9. What is one smell that never fails to make you happy?
The smell of a newborn baby!  Best smell in the world.

10. Have you ever been rollerskating?
Yes.  A few times.  Usually I choose rollerblades over rollerskates though.

11. You've gone into hiding and have to conceal your identity. What new alias would you adopt?
I have no idea.  Sorry, people.  I guess I'm just not creative enough today.

Jem Jones' Questions:

1. Is there a story that you've always wanted to write, but haven't yet?
Yeah, like all the stories my little brain has ever invented.  Take your pick.  Not one of them has made it much past the thinking stage as yet.

2. What tv show/movie have you binge-watched the worst?
Oh goodness, I don't know.  I sort of binge-watch to the same degree for whichever show I'm currently into.  There's not one that stands out from the rest really.

3. You know those innocent little mistakes we make that are so. embarrassing. they keep you up at night. five years later. Those. Tell me about one of them? (I promise I won't tell.) (I might put it in a story though?)}
Oh, I never make embarrassing mistakes.  My goodness.  I'm far too in control of myself for that!

Just kidding.  I know there have been some.  I just can't think of a particular one at the moment.

Sorry, Jem.  Guess I failed you for story material this time around.

4. What's your biggest NOTP?
NOTP?  What is that?

Okay, I looked it up.  So, basically you're asking, which couple in a movie or book do I think should not be a couple?  Do I have that right?

Okay, so I don't know that this is my biggest NOTP, but with limited time to think about it I'm going to just go with Miss Lane and Gabriel Cochrane from Lark Rise to Candleford.  I think theirs is a rather lame relationship and I think Miss Lane could have done much better.  Not that I really care.  I mean, if she wants to go and marry a grump that's her problem.  All I'm saying is, if I'd been writing the script for that show...things would have been different.

5. Would you rather be attacked by one horse-sized duck or a hundred duck-sized horses? (seriously I want to know)
You get first prize for most creative question!  Wow.  This one is nuts!!  Really, Jem!  How in the world am I supposed to choose??  *shivers*  Both options sound extremely freaky.  A horse-sized duck could bite my head off...and a hundred duck-sized horses??  Okay, I'm going with a hundred duck-sized horses.  At least with that they're smaller than me...and they can't fly...and maybe I can kick them away or escape up a tree or just...scream for HEEEEEELP!!!

6. Is there a song you've been listening to on repeat?
Not within the past few days, but several weeks ago these were the two most popular for traveling to and from work.  Give 'em a listen if you have the time and tell me what you think.  I'm curious to know if any of the rest of you like this style of music, or if it really wouldn't be your thing.  (It's 50's music by the way.  Very fun, in my opinion.)

7. Who is the first person that pops into your head when you think "weird"?
Haha.  My oldest brother maybe?  He's definitely an odd one.  (In a good sort of way of course.)  Oh! and my sixteen-year-old brother, too!  Can't forget about him.  Very, very strange.  *concerned shake of the head*

8. What's your biggest pet peeve?
When someone tries to turn a book into a movie and DOES IT ALL WRONG!!  Also, bad acting in movies.  Bad script.  Cheesy lines.  You name it.  (I have this thing for critiquing movies.  Did you ever notice?)

9. Oxford comma or no?
Oxford comma, yes.

(Had to look that one up, too.  Man, but my
intelligence level is through the roof today.)

10. If you could pick a name for yourself, what would it be?
Hepsibah Magnolia Lajinski.

Oh, come on now.  Don't you think that has a nice ring to it?

11. Why did you start a blog?
I thought it would be a fun outlet for my writing and I also very much wanted to make some friends and be a part of the little blogging community I had discovered.  Turned out rather well on the whole.  :)

Well that just about wraps this post up.  I hope you all enjoyed this and now I have just one question for you.
Do you choose the horse-sized duck attack or the hundred duck-sized horses attack?  I must know.

Toodle-oo!

The Long Awaited, Entirely Forgotten, Ask Me Anything Answer Post // Part 3

Did I say I was hoping to get this post published sooner rather than later?  *cough*   Well, it has now been just over eight months since the second installment came out, and over a year since the original post was published (in which this whole ridiculous fiasco got started).  And, I don't know, I just have this feeling that, that ain't "sooner rather than later."  No.  That's just plain LATER.  Seriously, where HAS the time gone???  (Remind me never to do an Ask Me Anything post again because clearly I am not qualified to do it properly.)

Okay.  Let's get down to business.

The final questions are from Gabby (also known as Miss Meg), Elanor, Natalie, and Olivia.  Thank you so much for all the fun questions, girls!  And I'm SO sorry it's taken me this long to answer them.

1. What is your favourite thing to cook?

COOKIES!  Okay, technically that isn't cooking, that's baking.  But hey.  The first five letters in the word "cookie" are the same as the first five letters in the word "cooking."  I say it ought to count!

2. Do you have a hidden talent?

Yes I do.  Unfortunately it's so well hidden that nobody knows about it.  Not even me.

(SORRY!  But my mind goes blank on questions like this.  Really, sometimes I wonder if I actually have any talents.)

Oh wait!  I thought of one!  I'm an expert at scraping the icing bowl or the cookie dough bowl or any bowl with yummy sweet stuff in it.  I'm telling you, I can scrape that thing so clean you wouldn't believe!  You don't even have to wash it when I'm through with it.  (A slight exaggeration.)  (And yes, that was a disgusting joke.  I admit it.)

3. Can you tell us a funny story about yourself? (Perhaps an awkward but hilarious situation, or a funny thought you had during some circumstance. I don't know. If you can't think of anything, elaborate more on how you said no to that nice guy asking you out on a date, haha. ;D *laughs wickedly*)

Oh, that nice guy.  You mustn't mention him.  Really.  It's too painful a subject.  I broke his heart, Gabby.  Utterly and completely.  And I've felt so guilty about it ever since.  It's a hard thing being such a popular and irresistibly beautiful woman, it really is. *sob*

All right, I suppose what you really wanted was a true story.  Let me see.  I might be able to manage that.

Oh yeah!  How about the time I went into the bank and proved that being an employee in a customer service job can produce rather embarrassing situations outside of work.  Care to hear it?

Right.  So I was in the bank, and I was making my way up to the one teller who usually waits on me, but she happened to be looking at something on her computer and didn't see me.  *Awkward pause of uncertainty*  Off to my right was a second teller and I noticed he was just making a move as if to say he could help me.  I turned in his direction and the first words out of my mouth as I moved toward him were, "Can I help you?"  Uh.  No!  *slaps forehead*  This is what comes of waiting  on customers for an entire day and then going out into the world and trying to be a customer oneself!  I fumbled my way through the transaction and hoped vehemently that my usual gift for mumbling had come through on this one, and that the teller had simply failed to understand me.  It was a hope at any rate.

4. What is your middle name?

Ah yes.  My middle name.  Someone asked me this question earlier on in this series, but it's been such a long time since I answered it, you've probably all forgotten.  Allow me to remind you.  My middle name is Jean.  (Which is the same as my mother's middle name.  Cool, right?)

5. What is your favourite girls name?

Oh dear me!  I don't know.  Elizabeth is a nice name, I suppose.  At any rate, I've always liked how you can get so many nicknames out of it.  Liz, Lizzy, Liza, Eliza, Beth, Betsy, Betty, Bet, Bitty, Izzy, Ellie...I mean the possibilities are endless.

6. Would you ever dye your hair? What colour?

Ha!  No, I don't think I ever shall.  I'm not brave enough for that.  If I could dye it and change it back the next minute I might try it, but I have a feeling that isn't possible.  As to color though, I would actually like to see what I look like as a blonde, because that would be the biggest contrast, and would look utterly ridiculous!  (Maybe I should just try a wig sometime.  For laughs.)

7. Have you ever done archery?

No, I never have.  It would be cool to try though.

8. What were your favorite childhood books?

Aw!  I like this question.  I'm sure there are loads I could include, but I'll just show you a couple of my own personal books which are still special to me simply because they are mine.  And yes, I have very fond childhood memories of them, too.  :)

9. What's your favorite musical?

It depends on what mood I'm in.  I guess I've never been very good at narrowing things down to one single favorite.  Here's three that I like very much indeed.

Mary Poppins

The Happiest Millionaire

The Sound of Music
Have you seen these movies?

10. Have you seen the new Beauty and the Beast? What did you think?

Yes, I have.  I thought it was not so good as it could have been.  Sort of mediocre in my opinion.  I'm hoping to write a review on it sometime but (ahem) we'll see if that ever happens.

11. Brownies or chocolate cake?

Both!   I like to go at these sorts of things in a big way.  And besides, I prefer not to make hard, life-changing decisions if I can possibly avoid them.

12. Favorite flower?

You'll think me very dull and unromantic, but I really don't think about flowers all that much.  I mean, I like flowers.  They're pretty and sweet and all that, but a flower's a flower.  If they're pretty I like 'em.  And most of 'em are pretty so...

Too many decisions.  Too little time.

13. What comes to mind with the word 'bliss'?

This is actually rather funny.  The word "bliss" makes me think of my sister--back when we were younger and used to play games together.  Because we had this particular game where we would be different characters and write letters back and forth.  And there was a romantic couple in this game who used the word "bliss" quite frequently in their sappy love notes.  *grins*

14. Which of Cordy's dresses from The Happiest Millionaire would you like to own?

Believe it or not I don't really think about dresses from movies all that much, and I rarely pick one that I would like to own myself.  But since you ask...

This one isn't half bad.  The skirt looks like fun and the vest is cute.  I believe I could own this one with pleasure.

Also, Cordy's pink party dress.  Very pretty.  Yeah, I guess it might be a toss-up between those two.  (Actually what I really want is the blue shirt that the one girl is wearing in the first picture.  Isn't that super cute?  :))

15. Most recent book you read?

Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell.

16. Do you have a sibling inside-joke you could share with us? (There must be at least one you have so many siblings, after all. ;P)

Sure thing!

Okay, so over the past few years we've enjoyed coming up with code names for the TV shows we're currently watching.  Because it's just fun to be able to talk about one's plans for the evening in a very "subtle" fashion.  Makes one feel smart.  (Or something like that.)

For example:

The Dick Van Dyke Show became: DVD.  (Only that one wasn't the most clever because if we say, "DVD tonight?" people just might get the idea that we're talking about watching a movie.  And that's kinda not the idea we want people to get, you know?)

Gomer Pyle USMC became: GP, which then translated into "Grandpa" because we have a cousin who calls her grandpa "GP" so...associations, you know?  This one worked better because we could say "I need to see Grandpa this evening" or "How about a visit with Grandpa?"  (Which was SO subtle.  SO smart.)

The Donna Reed Show became: D.R. or Doctor.  (And we found quite suddenly that our health was ailing on a regular basis and that we had to make frequent trips to our physician.  Every night even.  They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but this was a case that went far beyond apples.  We were ailing and we were ailing bad.)

17. William Wilberforce or Mr. Knightley? (SORRRYYY)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??  WHAT KIND OF QUESTON IS THIS?!!  If I didn't know better I'd say you asked me this simply to get a reaction out of me.  (Well.  You got it.)

And no, I am not going to answer this.

And no, I am not going to forgive you either.  Be as sorry as you like.  You stepped over the line with this one, girl.  (Haha.)

18. Cordy already asked where you'd like to go on a date with that nice guy, so let me think of something different.....umm...where would you like to go on the SECOND date with that nice guy? ;P Haha.

To the church.  I think I'll just get married on my second date.  No point in drawing things out unnecessarily long.

Just kidding.  I think for my second date I'll have that nice guy over to my house for a nice quiet evening with my family.  (Only it won't really be quiet with so many younger siblings, but one can dream, right?)  Maybe we'll have a movie night or something.

19. Favorite hymn?

I like a lot of hymns, so I really can't choose a favorite.  But here's a good one.

Take My Hand, Precious Lord
by Thomas A. Dorsey
Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, help me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn.
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light,
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.
When my way grows drear, precious Lord, linger near,
When my life is almost gone,
Hear my cry, hear my call.
Hold my hand lest I fall,
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

(I love singing this one at the piano.)

20. Would you like to visit a major city? If so, which one?

Eh.  Not in a huge way.  *shrugs*  Cities just don't tend to excite me.  But I guess if I have to choose one...maybe London?

21. If you could bring one fictional character to life for a day, which one?

Oooh.  This is a good question.  Tough.  But good.

(Now if only I could think of a good answer.)

Ah!  Got it.

BERTIE WOOSTER!!  (I mean, why not?  That would make for a very entertaining day!)

22. Would you rather live in Barton cottage or Pemberley?

Barton Cottage.  I'm pretty sure I would prefer living in a smaller, cozier house rather than an impressive mansion.  I'd  just feel more at home there, I think.

23. Favorite guilty snack?

Any sweet thing that happens to be available.  Really, I'm not that picky.  ;)

24. If someone gave you twenty dollars to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

At the moment?  Probably nothing.  More than likely it would just go into my savings.  (Happy bank account! ;))

25. Tea or coffee? Or neither?

Tea.  But not just any kind of tea.  I'm definitely picky about the flavor.  Some flavors are just...yick.  No good.

26. Do you have a dream wedding dress?

Uh, not really?  Leastways it's not something I can really describe.  Basically I'd want it to be simple and soft and flowy and...I guess I'll recognize it when I see it.

27. Does your entire family read your blog?

No.  (The poor dears.  How much they miss.  HA!)  There are a few who read it sporadically, but only one who reads every single post.  (And that would be my sister just above me in age who's an absolute darling when it comes to my blog.  I mean, she actually gives me awards sometimes when I write a post that she particularly likes.  :))

For instance, several of these little magnets appeared on my bed at different times, complete with a  note congratulating me on a particular post I'd just written.  Such a sweet surprise.

Aren't they cute?  Sister definitely knows my style.  :)

28. Do any of your other siblings want a blog, too?

My sixteen-year-old brother might.  He's made comments about it several times anyway.  Not sure most of you would be thrilled about his choice of subject though, unless of course you're an enthusiast for chickens.  (My brother loves chickens.  Yeah. I don't understand it either.  ;))

29.  If there was just one movie you would like to make sure a friend watched, what would it be?

Amazing Grace.  That movie is just about perfect in my estimation.  Good acting. Good storyline.  Inspiring.  Entertaining.  Thought-provoking.  Goo-oo-ood.

30.  Do you like coffee?

Nope.  Never tried it.  Never mean to.

31.  Do you like long car trips?

Sometimes, yes.  It depends.  I like being able to sit in the car for a long time listening to music and watching the scenery fly past.  It does however get a little tiring when you're really wanting to be at your destination and the hours are stretching out longer and longer and all the naps you take aren't shortening the journey at all.

32.  What is your favorite TV series?

My favorite TV series?  Ugh.  That's hard.  I guess it's going to have to be a toss up between All Creatures Great and Small, The Donna Reed Show, and The Dick Van Dyke Show.  (Don't ask me to narrow it down any more than that.)  (And in fact, if you were to ask me again I might find myself adding to the list so...let's leave it at that.)

33.  What is one TV series you really want to try?

Hmmm.  I wouldn't mind trying Call the Midwife sometime, though it's not like I'm dying to see it or anything.  Also The Waltons.  I've seen a few episodes of that, but not a lot.   Oh, and yeah.  The Courtship of Eddie's Father (because...Bill Bixby.  :)).  Sadly, that one's hard to get one's hands on though.

34.  Do you ever become 'obsessed' with a movie trailer for a while? (Someone asked this in a group I was in recently and it kind of stuck with me, because I certainly do ;))

Nope.  Never have.  Not so far as I can remember anyway.

35.  Would you have "fun" as a secretary, do you think? Or not so much?

I've actually thought for quite a while that secretary work might be very well suited to me.  I like organizing papers and click-clicking things on the computer in a professional sort of way, but I can't really say whether I would actually enjoy it or not until I get some real experience with it.  Secretary jobs can be vastly different depending on what you're secretarying.  (Yes, I know that's not a word.)

*****

Well, look at that!  It appears I've finally made it to the end of the longest, most drawn-out, Ask Me Anything post series ever!

And everybody said...

"It's about time!"

(I couldn't agree more!)

Edit:  Ugh.  NO!  After publishing this, I realized that there's extra space between some of the lines.  (You don't know how much that bugs me. )  Unfortunately, I haven't time to fix it right now so forgive me if I simply allow my perfectionistic nature to indulge in one long cry of pain...AAAHHHHHHHH!  (Thanks.  I needed that.  ;))

I have returned, my friends. I have returned...to haunt you.

Wow.  It's been more than a month since I posted, and considering that I never wrote one of my typical "I'm taking a blogging break" posts, I'm afraid it may have seemed as if I'd fallen off the face of the earth.  (Ouch.  That would have hurt.)  No worries though.  That phenomenon did not happen to me.  My feet are still firmly planted on the good old ground.  And I am here, my friends.  Here to relate to you all the marvelous and exciting things that have been going on in my life lately.  (Yes.  This is a "Lately I've been" post.  And no, I'm not really going to tell you everything that's been going on with me the past couple months.  That would take far too long.  Be far too boring.  And...it just can't be done, okay?)

Right.  So.

Lately I've been:

~Working~

Business picked up this past month at the motel (due to the changing seasons) so I was suddenly a great deal busier than I had been since December.  Between work at the motel and work at the café I've been feeling pretty exhausted.  (Okay, maybe keeping late hours and watching too many movies and a few other factors play into that as well, but we're not talking about that right now, we're talking about work.)  Yes, and speaking of work, I did it again.  I quit another job.  (Because that's what Miss Marches do best!)  No but seriously, it was a responsible, clear-headed decision.  It really was.  In short,  I am no longer working at the café.  I decided to pick up more hours at the motel instead and focus on just one job.  And I think it's going to prove to have been a good decision.  I have high hopes for finally getting into a more regular, consistent schedule.  And that's huge for me.  I do better when I have a consistent routine.

~Watching~

The Dick Van Dyke Show:  Yup.  This has been regular evening viewing for the past several weeks now.  Ever since I went and bought all five seasons on eBay.  (Yes, it was worth it.  No, it was not a waste of money.  Why would you even ask such a silly question?)

Boy Meets World:  My brother-in-law introduced us to this show and we're currently watching through it at my brother's house on our weekly Monday night visit.  It's surprisingly good.  Better than I had expected.  Not that I would recommend it unreservedly because I don't like everything about it, but in my opinion it's a cute show, and I am growing quite fond of the characters.

Thumbs up?  Sure, Cory.

War and Peace:  O-kaaay.  So this movie was really quite something.  And by something I mean good somethings and bad somethings and...yeah.  To be brief, it had some highly inappropriate scenes and I wouldn't feel comfortable actually recommending it to anyone.  But...it also had some really powerful moments, some great character development, and some very moving storylines.  Also a really good ending.  So yeah, I admit, by the time it was over I was totally invested in a lot of the characters, and I might watch it again (provided of course that the handy-dandy remote is, well, handy.  You know.  ;))

The Good Doctor:  I rarely ever watch current TV shows, but my brother saw part of this while staying with my grandparents during the fall, and the two of us decided we'd like to watch it together.  So we got a free month's trial on Hulu and watched all eighteen episodes in a week and a half.   We just finished it last night and ohhh!  The last episode was so good, but so emotional.  I was close to tears, okay?  (Disclaimer:  I'm not really recommending this show.  I mean, I enjoyed it, but I feel like it should definitely be viewed with caution.  It's not for everyone.  First off it's a doctor show so there are lots of surgeries and blood and all that--honestly, I had to look away at some parts--and secondly they deal with some very adult topics, as well as some of the typical social issues of our day--coming of course to the politically correct conclusions on those topics, which happen not to my conclusions, so yeah.  That's kind of annoying.  It's definitely not a show for kids and, like I said, definitely to be viewed with caution.  That's my opinion anyway.) But aside from that, I really did enjoy this show.  And there are some really cool characters in it.  The main character, Shaun Murphy is of course my favorite.  He's such a unique character!  He's autistic, ridiculously smart, and brutally honest, which makes for some very interesting interactions with other people.  He's also just super sweet and very loveable.  And I like him a lot.  :D

And yeah.  I'm feeling kind of sad now because it's all over and there's no more to watch for another year.  :(

Still, there's an upside to it.  I won't have to be staying up till 1:00 and 2:00am anymore to watch it.  I'm pretty sure that's a good thing.  Would you agree?  (Haha.)

When Calls the Heart season five sneak peaks:  When you don't have TV and you can't watch the actual episodes, you watch the sneak peaks and the previews.  Not because they're necessarily worth watching but because you must have something to distract you from what you should be doing.   Isn't that how it works?

~Reading~

Jane Eyre: Started it.  Got distracted by other things.  Haven't read it for weeks.  Typical, typical, typical.  (I do want to get back to it sometime though.)

Jane Austen's Minor Works:  I've been making my way through these very slowly.  Her minor works are not like her novels.  Not so easy to get into.  However, I've still got my bookmark in place and I plan to finish them eventually.  Howsoever long it may take me.  What I really wanted to do was read her unfinished novels again, but they're at the end of the book so...must wait.  Gotta do things in order.

War and Peace:  Okay, so I was inspired to read this after watching the movie.  I mean, it's sort of been on my to-read list ever since my dad and brother read it the other year, but it's a daunting task, and I never quite got around to it.  Well, now I have.  And what do you know?  I am officially daunted.  Even more so as my older sister started reading it soon after I did, and had the audacity to read at a fast pace that I was reading.  I mean, that's not fair!  I started it first, I should finish it first.  But no.  She's way ahead of me now and there's no way I'm gonna catch her and...it's hurting my ego, guys.  I quit.  Okay, not exactly quit.  I mean, I am going to try and read the book still.  I just quit the race.  The race that really wasn't a race but which I made into a race out of pure selfish silliness--or silly selfishness--or whatever you want to call it.  Yeah, that one.  I own myself defeated and go and pout in a corner.  The end.

~Thinking~

...Exactly what else am I supposed to include in a "Lately I've been" post?  I mean, I've covered books and movies and work...what else is there?

Oh that's right!  I forgot!

~Writing~

*Dun, dun, dun, dun*

*cough*

Not much.

"Now, now.  If you can't think of anything better to say than that!"

Sorry, Percy, but it's the truth.  I've just not been doing much writing lately.  Unless you want to count emails.  But even those I'm starting to fall behind on.  They're piling up on me again and...OH NO!

Help, help!!  I'm drowning!!  Someone save me!  I can't write.  I can't think.  I can't...

"Do calm down.  There's no need to get flustered.  Sink me!  Just take a deep breath, and a pinch of snuff, and you'll be right as rain in a moment."

Did you say "sink me"?  Wow, that wasn't very sensitive of you, was it?  Right after I tell you I'm drowning, and you have to go and say "sink me".  Is that your idea of a joke?

"Odds fish, my dear fellow.  How you do talk!  You really are making very little sense just now.
But don't worry!  I have a plan!"

Oh yeah?  And what would that be, pray?

"Go to bed, Miss March.  Just go to bed."

And she did.
