"Miss March, you are not a quitter!"

"Would you care to bet on that?"

"You have a talent for writing."

"Is that so?  Well, I should like to know where it runs off to then, every time I need it."

"And writing a novel is really not that difficult, if you will but work at it."

"Pardon me, but wherever did you get such a ridiculous notion?"

"It is entirely possible for you to complete your word count each day."

"Do NOT speak to me of word counts. You poison my tea with such talk."

"All you have to do is set aside one half hour--or even an hour--each day to devote to this task, and you will be a winner."

"You're kidding, right?  ME?  Write a thousand and more words in the space of an hour?  What utter nonsense!  It simply can't be done!!"

"It can be done.  All it requires is a bit of strength and determination.

"Which you know quite well I haven't got..."

"You must see this thing through."

"Why must I, Jeeves?"

"Because...

 The world needs your novel!"

"Oh, I say!  Is that all?  Well then, the world may just have to learn to do without it...and not be so selfish."

Do any of you get the feeling that my novel isn't coming along so well right now, and that I'm looking for ways to distract myself from seriously thinking about it?  Well, if so, you are entirely correct.  My novel is giving me grief, people.  Enormous amounts of grief.

But let us not end on that note.  Let us be positive!!  Tomorrow is a new day, my friends! A new beginning!  And I am positive...

That my novel will be giving me grief tomorrow, too...

  1. MISS MARCH!!!

You just had me laughing aloud with this post. How did you ever find so many Jeeves and Wooster pictures and fit them all together so perfectly?! I love it!!!!

But ohhh...I was wondering how the writing was coming along. I'm SO sorry it's giving you trouble, dear! Today I actually wrote my lowest word count so far. My inspiration is a little low at the moment....so I understand! But YES. Tomorrow IS a new day, with no mistakes in it! :D I totally and completely believe in you, my friend. YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU CAN WRITE. Not only CAN you write, you write WELL.

Oh, dear. Way to end your post on a positive note, Miss March. :P You simply must be optimistic. We all have faith in you! Take a little of that faith and have faith in yourself, as well. :D I'm rooting you on!!! *hugs*

    1. Natalie, you dear, dear, person!! Would you STOP being so nice all the time? I can't handle it. (Haha. Just kidding. ;)) Seriously, though. Your comment was SUCH an encouragement to me last night. Thank you so much for believing in me more than I believe in myself, and for sticking with me through this whole thing. You're such an awesome friend!! *hugs* and *hugs again*

There's so much more I want to say, but words are failing me. I just want you to know that your comment was exactly what I needed, and it made me super happy, and your encouragement beats the NaNo pep talks hollow! ;D Heehee.

    2. Awwww, really??? I'm so happy to have encouraged you so much!!! *hugs back* *hugs back again* :D

My comment was better than the NaNo pep talks? Thank you! I feel so honored. :) :) :)

    3. Yes, REALLY! But then, you're always encouraging so I guess it's not really news. *winkwink*

TOTALLY! Your pep talks are the best!! <3 *hugs*

  2. Oh Miss March YOU ARE SO HILARIOUS but oohhh I feel so bad for you!!

On one hand, I want to say: DON'T GIVE UP (and well, YOU DEFINITELY WRITE WELL!!!!) but on the other hand I want to say, "Don't feel bad if you don't succeed." It's not THE most important thing in the life to succeed in NaNo. If this is causing you a lot of grief and pain and sweat and tears and blood (wow, I hope that's not the case!) then don't feel bad about it. You don't HAVE to do this if it really isn't your thing.
I HOPE you don't give up, though! ;-)

BUT I BELIEVE IN YOU AND YOU WRITE STINKINGLY WELL AND IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS YOU CAN.

(Personally I don't think i'd be able to do NaNo with full confidence either. Maybe one year, but I've never done it yet! I admire you for doing this in the first place!)

    1. Oh, Naomi! Can I just give you a hug right now?! YOU ARE SO SWEET!

Thank you for reminding me that I don't have to succeed at NaNo, because, like you said, it definitely is not the most important thing in life...not even close. :) I'm actually at a point right now where I'm ready to just relax about the whole thing and not TRY to succeed. NaNo has helped me enough to at least get me started on my story (which is success in and of itself), and so while I'm not completely giving up, I'm also not going to sweat reaching 50,000 words or anything like that. ("...sweat and tears and blood." Haha. You made me laugh with that comment. Thanks for that.)

Just THANK YOU for all your kinds words! *hugs* :D

  3. Where do you come up with all those perfect picture conversations?
Even better, that would be a very believable dialogue between Wooster and Jeeves:)

But don't despair - sometimes inspiration strikes at once - and judging by how fluently you write about your struggles about writing I'm sure your novel will be absolutely brilliant once you've got it written:)

    1. I really don't know. It's just one of my many talents, I guess. Heehee. ;)
Really? Cool! I suppose after all it's impossible to look at pictures of Jeeves and Wooster without at least trying to make it sound like something they would actually say. ;)

(Yeah, I am pretty good at writing about how I "can't write", aren't I? How ironic. Haha.) Aw, thank you, Rose!! You're so sweet. :)

  4. Ugh!!! Same!!! The doubt has officially crept in for me as well.

At this point I'm trying to write MORE each day so that I can just be DONE! Let the agony end so I may die in peace!!!

But we can do this! That one dude was right - the world needs your story!!! And mine... ALL THE STORIES!!!

WE CAN DO THIS. Push through! Weeee beeelieeve inn yoooouuu!!!!

    1. Oh, Kate, really? I'm so sorry to hear that. That is NOT FUN AT ALL! :( Maybe this is typical for this point in the month, and it will only get better from here on out? Here's hoping!

Oh yes, indeed. LET US PUT AN END TO THIS MISERY!! Haha. (I'm actually doing the opposite of you, though. I'm not writing more words, I'm writing less. Like hardly any, actually? Heh.)

Thank you so much, Kate! I don't know where you girls get such confidence in me, but I sure appreciate it!! :D And I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, TOO! Stick with it. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. If you don't reach 50,000 words, that's absolutely okay. Just write, and enjoy writing. (You know, happy writing and all that? ;) Heehee.)

    2. *laughs maniacally* Oh, no! I'm committed now! I swear I will write 50k IF IT KILLS ME!!!!

Actually, I've reached out to several people about how I'm feeling and gotten some really good advice that I think is going to help a lot (already helping, really!), so it's not so bad now.

I think I can be done in a week or so, so I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to that moment! :)

    3. Well then. If it's your life that's on the line I shall give you no excuses!!! GO WRITE THOSE 50,000 WORDS IMMEDIATELY! NOW!! We can NOT afford to lose you over something like this. That's all I have to say. :P

Oh, I'm so glad you got some good advice and that you're feeling better about things now. *claps hands* That's awesome!

But wait...you think you can be done in a week or so? Get out!! You can't finish that quickly. That's almost a week ahead of time! Not fair. :( Hahaha. Just kidding. Finish as quickly as you can by all means! :D

    4. You're funny. ;)

Yes. Basically it goes like this: kill people, hurt people, and put things in people's way. Its working great so far! *Kate skips off merrily to destroy lives*

I hope so! Ebven sooner would be nice, but I don't know if I can pull it off.

    5. I know. Thanks for noticing. (Heehee.) ;)

Wow. You're ruthless. I'm glad I'm not one of your characters! :P Skipping off merrily to destroy lives?? Goodness. What heartlessness. Haha. ;)

I'm rooting for you getting it done sooner then!! GO, KATE, GO!!!

    6. Aw, I could never kill YOU, dear! You're too lovable. ;)

Thanks! I'm at 39k now! Home stretch, here I come! I'm hoping only four more days... We'll see!

      P. S. NaNo doing any better for you these days??? Tell me everything, dear!

    7. Haha. Well, thanks!! ;D

Wow! 39k!! You're doing awesome, girl!! Way to go!! *claps hands enthusiastically*

P.S. *coughcough* Well, to be honest, not really. In fact, I've sort of let the whole thing slide the past few weeks. I've worked on it a little bit, but overall I'm just being terribly lazy and not taking it seriously at all. It's very irresponsible of me, I know, but I've been REALLY tired lately so it's been super hard to get my brain working. (And yes. I know. That's a terrible excuse. Still it's the best I've got. Haha! ;))

Thank you so much for your comment. And sorry it took me so long to respond. :)

    8. I'm so glad you ent freaking out, though! So many people are struggling right around now and feeling guilty about wanting to give up, so I'm glad ypthat you're just taking it easy and being CHILL, ya know?

      Do NaNo on YOUR terms!

      Ohmygoodness, yes! So tired...

But seriously, missing your lovely posts... Come back soon, okay?

      Delete
    9. Oh, I did all my freaking out and feeling guilty the first week. I'm past that now. I guess you could say I'm resigned to the fact that I am a definite quitter! Haha. ;) Seriously, though, I'd count my first attempt at NaNo a success simply because I actually sat down and started working--from the beginning--on a story. And that's huge for me. Also I haven't given up on the story yet, either. I still very much want to write it. So NaNo definitely helped to get me started. :)

Aww. You're so sweet. Thank you! I'm looking forward to being back. :D

  6. THIS was absolutely hilarious, but in a tragic way. You poor dear. BUT!

YOU CAN DO IT, MISS MARCH!!!! KEEP IT UP!!! You DO have a remarkable talent for writing, and I'm sure you're coming along splendidly!!! You can do this!!!! I believe in you!!! (And here I am just trying to do my part because there's no way *I* could ever do NaNoWriMo, so I just sit back and greatly admire those who can. You are awesome!!!)

    1. Aw, Rae. THANK YOU! Don't worry about the tragedy of it, though. I'll survive. And I had a lot of fun putting this post together, so that's a plus! ;)

"...there's no way *I* could ever do NaNoWriMo, so I just sit back and greatly admire those who can." Ahem. Yes, well about that. Considering that I've hardly written anything the past five days, I'm not sure I can be considered as one who can actually "do" NaNoWriMo, either. You could do as well as I've done thus far, I'm sure. :)

Thank you so much for your comment, my friend. It was very encouraging to me! And I think I'm about ready to plunge back in and give this whole thing another try--thanks to all of you dear people. :) *hugs*

  7. Hahaha... this is too good. ;) But all the same, I'm sorry things aren't working out so well! That's not very encouraging... Well, you still have over 20 days to write, you know, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet!! And even if you write the smallest amount, it'll still be more than having not written at all. I've been editing my story lately, and it's a painstakingly slow process. I'm not kidding - it's taken me about an hour just to write two pages. ;P (#perfectionistprobs) (Eww, no, I hate abbreviation and all that stuff... *shudders*)
Cheer up, take a deep breath, grab a cup of tea, and ENJOY IT!!! <3

Thank you for your sweet comment, my friend. :)

  8. I've not written for a few days now... so struggling to find motivation! Dont beat yourself up if you don't reach 50k words, Nano is supposed to help you get started with your novel - you can always complete it in December if you don't finish in November. Gotta say though, as soon as I start writing, I suddenly feel motivated to do all kinds of other things EXCEPT write! aarghh! C'mon Miss March, lets jump back in and fight for that word goal, hey?

    1. Oh, I know!! It's so hard to stay focused, isn't it? I'm sorry you've been struggling to find motivation, too. Hopefully things will start to pick up for both of us soon, and we'll be able to make some real progress before the month is over! :) (But, yeah. You're right. There's no point in beating ourselves up if we don't reach 50k. Thanks for the reminder.)

And thank you for your comment!! :D
