10 of my Favorite TV Shows

Because I'm still suffering from a severe case of writer's block (oh! woe is me!),  and because I feel that I must post something or risk giving up on this whole blogging thing forever (ah! dramatic!), I thought I'd go simple today and throw together a list of my favorite TV shows.  Naturally, they are in no particular order (except the one I have been watching most often recently just might be at the top of the list...it just might).  So here you are!  Hope you enjoy this thrown-together little post.  :)

1. The Donna Reed Show

2. The Dick Van Dyke Show

3. Lark Rise to Candleford

4. All Creatures Great and Small

5. Jeeves and Wooster

6. Hogan's Heroes

7. Disney's Zorro

8. The Andy Griffith Show

...Okay, so maybe this kind of post isn't so simple after all.  I can't even come up with ten favorites!  Grr.  Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm going  loony.  Loosing my brain and all that, you know?  ("Where's my brain?  I want my brain.  Come here brain."  *Ahem*  Sorry.  Private joke.)

Anyway, I guess I'll have to call it quits because I seriously can't think of anymore that I want to include.

So that's that, folks!  You have now received the earth-shattering knowledge of what are my 10 (no, 8) favorite TV shows!   Aren't you positively thrilled?   (Ha!)

What are some of your favorite shows?
Have you seen any of the ones mentioned above?

    1. Thanks for your comment, Rachel! :) And yes! Isn't Lark Rise so good? It's too bad it only lasted for four seasons.

    2. It is splendid. I wish they made more seasons.

    3. I know, right? They totally could have done more...if only Mr. Timmons hadn't left to play in Downton Abbey! :)

  2. Jeeves and Wooster! :) But other than that, I haven't seen any of these others. I didn't know they made a TV show on All Creatures Great And Small!

    1. JEEVES AND WOOSTER! YES! :) Have you seen all four seasons of that show? We've been watching it for months, and finally finished it just last week. It's hilarious! :D

Oh, yes, there's a TV show of All Creatures Great and Small. I've only seen part way through the second season, but I'd like to see more of it eventually. You should try it sometime if you get the chance. It's quite fun. :)

  3. Where's Downton Abbey??? :-P Haha. I know you don't like it as much as I do.

    1. Haha. :P Yeah, I really enjoy watching Downton Abbey, but I can't quite bring myself to put it on my favorites list because of "certain things". You know? :)

LARK RISE!!! YES!! I love that show, too! :D

    2. P.S. Okay, so it just hit me how weird it is to think that you're commenting from Emma's house...here in AMERICA!! *squeal!* ;D

  4. I like old shows like Dick Van Dyke and Hogan's Heroes too! I also watch Bewitched, Gilligan's Island, Laverne and Shirley, and Happy Days. (Though not that often. I make myself sound like a couch potato!) :)

    1. Oh, that's so cool that you recognize some of these! And yes, aren't the old shows so much fun? I've heard of Bewitched and Happy Days but I've never seen them. I have seen some of Gilligan's Island, though. :) (A couch potato? Haha. Really, Abby, you didn't sound like a couch potato at all! That description would probably come pretty close to fitting me, though, so I won't tell you how often I watch movies. ;) Heehee.)

    1. Ooooh! You've seen All Creatures Great and Small! High five, girl! :D And you're so right, that show certainly doesn't get enough credit or recognition. Have you watched all the seasons? I've only seen through part of season two, but I'd like to see more eventually. :)

And yes! Jeeves and Wooster all the way! Love that show! :D

Oh, well then you have a lot of good shows to discover! I hope you'll get a chance to see some of these someday. You'd probably really enjoy Lark Rise to Candleford since you like Period Dramas. :)

    2. Oh yes, I think I will love most of these shows, if I watched them.
Everyone keeps telling me I should watch Lark Rise to Candleford and that I will love it - but I have yet to find the right time to start it. (You know how one must be in a particular mood or mindset to properly enjoy something)

      Delete
    3. That's true. You really do have to be in the right mood to enjoy something. And starting a TV show is a bit of a commitment, especially if you're planning to watch the whole thing...so you have to make sure you have enough time. :)
I hope you do get a chance to watch some of these sometime. I'd love to know what you think of them. :)

  8. Hi Miss March! I'm afraid that I have not been a good blog follower due to school.

I like the list of shows you made, even though I haven't seen all of them. I really like Lark Rise to Candleford, and the Andy Griffith Show is always a ton of fun to watch.

    1. Oh, no worries, Ekaterina! Life is busy, and that's a fact. Are you done with school for the year now?

I really like Lark Rise to Candleford, too. It's such a lovely show! And yes, the Andy Griffith Show is loads of fun. We used to watch it every week at our grandparents house, so there are a lot of happy memories attached to it for me. :)

Thank you so much for commenting! It was really nice to hear from you again! :D

    2. Life is busy. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. I'm kind of done with school. I am currently taking economics as a summer course, so I can then take some college classes in the fall.

That's lovely that you have memories connected with the Andy Griffith Show. I also have happy memories attached to the the show Little House on the Prairie.

    3. I know, right? It's fun to be busy sometimes, but other times it would be such a relief not to have anything that you HAVE to get done. Good luck with your economics course, and your college classes in the fall! :D

Oh, yes. Little House on the Prairie. I've seen some of those, too. That's a fun one! :)

  9. Hey! Sorry I'm a little late to the party (so much happening, but I'm attempting to catch up on it all this arvo) (this arvo is Aussie slang for this afternoon ;D).

I have merely heard of the Donna Reed show but Donna Reed is the actress who plays the mother off "It's a Wonderful Life", no? I actually saw that a week or so ago! I was actually rather surprised about it, haha. Aside from the *ahem* wacky stars talking/angel getting his wings, I really enjoyed it. ;) It really gave me a grasp on what that time era may have been like (just the hair and clothes kept me satisfied!) and James Steward was... I don't know, he was just so amusing I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. :D I liked it - it was a bit peculiar (I guess I was just surprised) but I would watch it again, especially for Christmas. :) (I love the idea of having Christmas movies. I can think of 4 off the top of my head: The Nativity Story, White Christmas, The Muppets a Christmas Carol and It's a Wonderful Life. Other movies, such as Little Women, have a fair bit of Christmas in them, but it's not centered around it. I've been humming carols lately, for some odd reason. I just love Christmas so much.)

I've only heard of the Dick Van Dyke show, however I'm very familiar with the actor himself! ;D

    LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD. <3

I haven't seen All Creatures Great and Small.

Haven't seen Jeeves and Wooster either, but again, I am VERY familiar with both actors. ;D

I've seen a bit of Hogan's Heroes, and just remember it being pretty funny and entertaining, and that the main fellow (Hogan, I presume) reminded me of James Garner.

I haven't seen the last two at all (although I HAVE seen several Zorro movies :D).

The TV shows I watch tend to be modern ones (at least, at the moment) but here are a few:
    Little House on the Prairie
    The Brady Bunch
    Arrow
    White Collar
    Gilligan's Island
    Get Smart
    I Dream of Jeannie
    Lark Rise to Candleford (obviously)
    Robin Hood (BBC)

That's all I can think of at present. :)

I enjoyed this post! (Dear me, if this is when you can't think of what to say, you seem to be doing a fine job. ;))

    1. Eeek! What a splendidly long comment! I love your comments, Miss Meg! :D (Late? Oh, posh! Anytime is a good time to hear from you!)

Yup, that's right. Donna Reed plays Mary in "It's a Wonderful Life." I love that movie! Haha. Peculiar? Yes, perhaps. The "wacky stars talking/angel getting his wings" is a bit strange I admit, but it works for the movie somehow. I really like Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, too. He's a very entertaining character. :)

Oh! I recognize quite a few of the shows on your list. Little House on the Prairie, The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, Get Smart--I've seen parts of all those shows. And I've heard a lot about the BBC Robin Hood since I started blogging, though I have yet to see it for myself. How many seasons does that show have?

I'm so glad you enjoyed this post! :D (And aww. Seriously? That is so encouraging to hear. I guess I really should stop complaining about not being able to write, shouldn't I?)

Thanks so much for your comment, Miss Meg. It made me very, very happy! :D

    1. Oh! This is delightful! You've seen so many of the old shows! Love it! :D

Ah, yes. "Jeeves and Wooster." That's a fairly new discovery for me, too. I've seen all four seasons now, though, so I can confidently say it's one of my favorite shows! It's just SO much fun! I'm glad you're enjoying it, too. :)

    2. I like old shows best, for the most part. My most favoritest show ever is Combat! which ran from 1962-67. I've loved it since I was 14. There are only a few more modern shows that I love, but soooooo many classics!

    3. Yes, I love classics, too. There are so many good ones! I've never heard of "Combat!" Is it a comedy? I guess I should look it up sometime. :)

(By the way, I noticed you wrote "Combat!" in italics. How did you do that? I can't figure out how to use italics in the comment section.)

    4. Combat! is the longest-running TV drama set during WWII. It's generally quite serious, though there are some funny eps too. You can find a lot of eps on YouTube, so if you'd like to try some, I suggest starting with the two-part ep "The Long Way Home" to get a good feel for all the characters and what the show is generally like. On YouTube, Part One is here, and Part Two is here.

As for italicizing stuff in comments, I get that question a lot! So much so that I finally wrote up a whole blog post explaining how to do that, and also how to do links in comments. You can find that info here. Hope that helps!
