Cordy's Would You Rather Fictional Grab-bag Edition!

Hello everyone!  Cordy has made another one of her "Would You Rather" games and I'm here to play it!

Do check out Cordy's blog and her answers to the game here!  And then join in the fun and play the game for yourself!  Anyone and everyone is welcome!

All right!  Here we go...

I'm ready to play!

Would you rather, be a tenant of Mr. Darcy or Mr. Knightley?
Oh wow.  Thanks for starting us off so easy, Cordy!  Honestly, I don't know!  Either one would make a great landlord!  How's a person to choose?

Okay.  Mr. Darcy.  And no, I don't have a particular reason for choosing him.   I'm still in the act of the Bertie Wooster shrug and totally at a loss here so how can I be expected to come up with reasons?

Would you rather spend a day in the 100 Acre Wood or Neverland?
The 100 Acre Wood!  Definitely!  It feels cozier and more friendly to me than Neverland.

Would you rather attend a tea party with the Mad Hatter and company or meet the Wizard of Oz?
I'll take the Mad Hatter and company.  As far as I can remember the Wizard of Oz wasn't all that interesting.

Would you rather spend a summer at Netherfield with Jane and Mr. Bingley, or at Hamley Hall with Squire Hamley?
Oh my word!!  This is an easy one!  Jane and Mr. Bingley!  Absolutely, positively, that is my final answer!  Squire Hamley's okay and all, but he doesn't strike me as the sort of person that would be very fun to spend a large amount of time with.  Spending a summer with Jane and Mr. Bingley however would be quite nice I think.  They're both so sweet and Mr. Bingley is so cheerful I'm sure we would have a lot of laughs and good times together.

Would you rather be "rescued" by Gilbert Blythe or Colonel Brandon?
Gilbert Blythe.  I'm afraid I'm still not a huge fan of the Colonel.  I just don't fancy being rescued by a man who will then ask me in a monotone "Is there any other way in which I may serve you?" as if he means to be the most caring man in the world but all the time you can see he's thinking about how sad, sad, sad, his life is and what a horrible, miserable, time he's had of it, and would someone please extend pity towards him?  Please?  (I'm sorry.  That's really cruel of me to say about the Colonel.  And I know I'm exaggerating.  But that's just sort of the feeling I get from him, particularly in the 1995 movie.)

Would you rather marry Laurie or John Brooke?
John Brooke.  He's steadier and more the husbandy type.  Or maybe I should just say he's more my type of a husband.  I like Laurie a whole lot, too, of course, but I can more easily imagine being married to John Brooke and living in a small home rather than being married to Laurie and all his wealth.

Would you rather have to participate in a skirmish as a member of Robin Hood's Merry Men, or as a member of the Musketeers?
I'd prefer to be with Robin Hood's Merry Men.  They strike me as a bit more fun.  I might skip the skirmish though, if that's okay.  Skirmishes aren't so much my thing.  I's a peace loving person.  (And besides, I's scared.)

Would you rather have a jolly holiday in a chalk painting or enjoy a tea party on the ceiling with Uncle Albert?
Ooh!  I think I'll do the tea party on the ceiling.  It would be fun to be able to float up in the air.  And spending time with Uncle Albert would be highly entertaining.

Would you rather have to chaperone, through their entire courting experience, Lydia Bennet or Anne De Bourgh?
Goodness me!  I don't wish to chaperone either of them!  Lydia is just trouble, and Anne De Bourgh is just...I don't know...weird?  But I suppose if I must choose one I'll choose Anne De Bourgh.  Anyway, she would most likely just there sit silently all afternoon, so that would give me ample time to read or think or do whatever I wanted to do.

Would you rather marry Mr. Wickham or Mr. Elton?
CORDY!  This is cruelty!  I refuse to answer this question.  Under no circumstances whatsoever would I marry either of them!  And I have nothing further to say on the subject.

Humph.  So there.

Would you rather spend the rest of your life in Middle Earth (starting from the time of the journey of the ring), or Narnia (starting from the time of the Pevensie's first visit)?
Probably Narnia.  Once the White Witch is taken care of and the Pevensie children become kings and queens it seems like it would be a very pleasant and peaceful place to live.
(ButreallyI'drathernotliveineitheroftheseplacesandI'mhavingabitofacrisisnowjustthinkingofitsoI'mgoingtostopbye!)

Well, that's it!  Thanks for the game, Cordy!
Toodle loo, my friends!

  1. *clapping* you started with a Dick Van Dyke Show gif!! This is why we are friends!! XD

I'm rather proud of myself for guessing your answer to Netherfield vs Hamley Hall as well as Laurie vs John Brooke.

I forget that you don't appreciate Colonel Brandon. Sad day. :'(

No, no skipping the skirmish. (Why do you think I chose a running gif for my answer? Thank you for asking, because running away is sometimes a strategic part of a skirmish. Hehehe.)

I was on a break at work when I read your post and when I reached your Wickham and Elton question, I died right there in the break room in front of two co-workers. It wasn't embarrassing or impossible to explain at all. Between your downright refusal and then the gif, I didn't stand a chance. That was fantastic!

So if you had to either participate in the skirmish or answer and carry out the Wickham and Elton question, which would you rather do... hmmmm...

    Yours truly,
    Cordy

    1. You know me well. :)

I know it's a shame really. I wish I liked him better. I tried really hard to like him the last time I read the book, but I don't know...I just couldn't quite get into his character somehow. At least not as much as I wanted to. And in the movies he just kind of annoys me. Not that I positively dislike him, but I'm just never quite satisfied with how his character is portrayed.

WHAT??! But I wanted to skip the skirmish! *pouts* (Oh-ho! Well if running away is an option then I suppose I'll join you! ;) Heehee.)

Hahaha! :D :D I'm so glad it made you laugh...though I'm sorry it caused you embarrassment. If I only knew where each of my readers was going to be when they read my posts I could try and avoid such awkward situations, haha! ;)

Ha! That's easy! Participate in the skirmish. I think I'd rather even die in the skirmish than be married to either of those two men! :/

  2. *gasp* You don't like Colonel Brandon? Oh dear, I'll have to find a way to fix that. ;) But, Gilbert is perfectly lovely, too!

Same on the John Brooke vs. Laurie question! I got a pretty huge crush on John when I read the book and it has never gone away. XD Sometimes I just read random chapters for his sake.

    1. I know. It's terrible, isn't it? I wish I liked him more! :) Yes! Gilbert is awesome!

Isn't John Brook such a sweet character though? I wish someone would make a movie sometime that would actually include him in a significant way.

    1. Hello Beth! Nice to meet you!! :)

Yes, I really like Gilbert! He's so much fun! I do like Colonel Brandon, too, at last in a general sense, but I just don't care very much for his portrayal in the movies. And even in the book I have a rather hard time getting into his character. Not sure why. :P

  4. I'm haven't quite thought of Jane and Mr. Bingley as sweet but certainly, they would be kind to you.

Colonel Brandon really did have a miserable life, honestly, I think he needs therapy rather than a wife.

    Have a lovely day.

  5. You have such an entertaining style of writing. I love it. :D

I agree with you about the Colonel though. :P (He's so yawn-worthy at times. *ducks tomatoes*) I'd willingly GET myself into a scrape if I could be rescued out of it by Gilbert, haha! (For two reasons: Gilbert Blythe is probably the fictional "hero" I fancy the most, and getting myself into scrapes is such an easy and common experience for me, it's not a big deal. But getting rescued by Gilbert would be. ;D)

I agree, though. Laurie is swell and I'd LOVE to have him as a friend, but John Brooke is definitely more marriage material. I always liked him tremendously when I read the books. He just seemed so safe and steady and supportive.

Honestly, the thought of chaperoning Lydia or Anne makes me so uncomfortable. xD It would be dreadful! I think I would sooner leave and let their parents do it for them, ha!

Now you have me contemplating what life in Narnia vs. Middle Earth would be like... (this is an endless train of thought.) I feel like Middle Earth has more DEPTH to it, in a way, and it would be bigger and more exciting, but Narnia seems so much safer and more carefree... yet somehow I feel like I'd rather depth and meaning in my life more than safety and security. Well, aren't I glad I never have to make the choice. ;)

    1. Why thank you, Gabby! :)

Yeah, I don't know what it is about the Colonel. I just can't seem to understand or really sympathize with him. Gilbert Blythe on the other hand...now there's a hero I very much appreciate! ;D

YES! I only wish the movies would do justice to John Brooke's character. He's barely in any of the movies I've seen and when he is he's kind of lame.

Haha! I'm sure it would be. Vastly uncomfortable! ;)

True, very true! Such decisions are just far too difficult! :)

P.S. I'm sorry I took so very long to respond to your comment! I've been rather lax when it comes to blogging in recent months.

  6. You don't like Colonel Brandon? Aka THE LOVE OF MY LIFE??? Well, I don't like Gilbert Blythe, sooooooo ... ;)

I very much approve of your tasteful use of Bertie Wooster gifs! *applause*

    1. I know! It's horrible of me, isn't it? The last time I read the book I tried (I really did!) to like him better, and I don't dislike him, but somehow I just can't quite get into his character. It's weird. You don't like Gilbert Blythe? Dear me, why ever not? ;)

      Thank you! *bows*

P.S. And by the way, I'm sorry it took me SOOOO long to respond to your comment! I've been sort of in limbo with the whole blogging thing that last couple months.
