Match It Game // Number Two

It's been quite a while since I've put together a game for you all.  I hope you're in the mood for one because I am.  This particular one is a second installment of a game I came up with back when I first started blogging.  (See here.)

Rules are as follows:

1. Match the quote to the correct picture (10 points for each correct match)
2. Bonus points if you can guess the name of the movie and the characters who are speaking (10 points for each correct guess)

So 200 points would be the maximum score.  (I may also hand out half points if for instance you know the name of the movie, but not the name of the characters, etc.)

Have fun!  (Oh, and I apologize in advance if I've misquoted any of the quotes.  It's hard to remember them word for word.  Also, the pictures aren't necessarily from the scene in which the quote was spoken but they include at least one of the principle characters from that scene.)

*****

A.  Character 1:  "I always say there's nothing like a good joke."
Character 2:  "And that was nothing like a good joke."

B.  "Still eating, -----?  Must be unhappy."

C.  Character 1:  "Lucky guess."
Character 2: "Nothing lucky about it.  Just talent, and intuition."

D.  Character 1:  "Oh, why don't you stop annoying people?"
      Character 2:  "Well, I'm sorry...HEY!"

E.  Character 1:  "But you haven't got a license."
Character 2: "Of course not.  I'm too young to have a license."
Character 1:  "What if you get caught?"
Character 2: "Look.  It's grandfather's car, isn't it?  And we're taking it to him, aren't we?
And it is an emergency, isn't it?"

F.  Character 1:  "At least he feels like singing."
Character 2:  "Well so do I sometimes but I keep it to myself."

G.  Character 1: "I think it's a crime that a woman with your talent--well, I suppose you'd
really have to call it magic--hasn't a family to share it with."
Character 2:  "Are you trying to dump those kids off on me?  Or are you working on
       something else?
Character 1:  "I am merely trying to point out that you have a natural way with
       children!"

H.  Character 1:  "My aunt Agnes used to have a saying that went, 'If your heart is where the
sky is bluest, then the sound of winter's twilight will be your friend.'"
Character 2:  "Your aunt said that?"
Character 1:  "Yeah.  And every time I think of it I want to cry."
      Character 2:  "Why?"
Character 1:  "Because I think my aunt Agnes was a nut."

I.  Character 1:  "I think if I see another painting I might very well have to scream, Mrs. ------."
Character 2:  "I'm quite sure you'd do nothing so un-ladylike."
Character 1:  "Don't count on it."

J.  Character 1:  "Are you saying Mrs. ----- is neglectful?"
      Character 2:  "Yep."

K.  Character 1: "It's a piece of cake."
Character 2: "You mean it ain't gold?"

L. "Go away with your foolish questions that don't have no brain."

Oh dear.  I'm afraid this is going to be a really tough game.  Normally I would want the pictures to coincide with the quotes  closely enough so that it would give you a slight hint, but I'm not sure it's working that way this time.   Sorry if this is ridiculously hard.  I'll try to do a better game next time.

Have a wonderful day, my friends!

  2. Well for fun!! Here goes nothing:

    A. Is from Mary Poppins, Bert and Uncle Albert and they go with picture #12
    B. Sound of Music? The Baroness? #9
    C. Emma, Mr. Knightley and Emma #2
    D. It's a Wonderful Life? No names.. #5
    E. Does it go with #7? Still no names..
    F. Your favorite movie, The Happiest Millionaire, Mrs. Duke and Cordy (no, not me ;P) #11
    G. The Apple-Dumpling Gang, the dude and the dudette. Both names are on the tip of my tongue, is the girl Dusty? Anyway, I can't seem to name them. #3
    H. The Dick Van Dyke Show, Sally and Buddy or Rob. Probably Buddy. #4
    I. Little Dorrit? I can't remember the names. #8
    J. Saving Mr. Banks, Miss Travers and Bob? #1
    K. The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, I think? And still no names. (There's a lot of that going around. ;)) #10
    L. Does it go with #6? No names, still.

So, there is my list of messy answers for you. Thanks for the game!! I actually treated it like a puzzle once I had named what I could of the quotes and movies I tried to work out the rest. This was fun!!

  3. THESE QUOTES ARE ALL SO GOOD. But I only know three! *shock*
B - 9? And I'm not even sure about this one. I'm embarrassed cuz I thought I knew all Max's quotes!
    C - 2!! Emma. :-)
    J - 1 - OF COURSE :-)

  4. Quote A matches with Picture 12. Character 1 is Bert (Dick Van Dyke) and Character 2 is Uncle Albert (Ed Wynn) from Mary Poppins

Quote B matches with Picture 9. Quote is by Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer) to Max Detweiler in Sound of Music.

Quote E matches with Picture 7. Character 1 is Elizabeth and Character 2 is Rodney. The Gnome-mobile (Disney). (Side note, the children were played by the same actor/actress duo that played Jane and Michael from Mary Poppins)

Quote G matches with Picture 3. Character 1 is Mr. Donovan (Bill Bixby), Character 2 is Dusty. The Apple Dumpling Gang (Disney).

Quote K matches with Picture 10. Character 1 is Theodore (Don Knotts), Character 2 is Amos (Tim Conway) providing his usual comedy in The Apple Dumpling Gang (Disney)

I think Quote F belongs with picture 4, and I think Character 1 is Buddy and Character 2 is Sally from The Dick Van Dyke Show. (Let's put it this way, I KNOW that Picture 4 is Sally from The Dick Van Dyke Show and that line about keeping the singing to herself sounds like something she would say)

I know that Picture 2 is Emma from the BBC miniseries, and I think that Quote C matches it with Character 1 being Mr. Knightley and Character 2 being Emma.

Does Quote L match up with Picture 6? I can't imagine that quote being said by any of the other characters shown. I have no idea where it came from though.

All the other ones I don't recognize either the quotes or the images.

    How did I do??

  5. The only one I actually know is B + 9: The Sound of Music. I'm preeetty sure the quote is by Uncle Max (pictured) to the Baroness. They were talking about strudel and pink lemonade, anyway xD

Picture 2 looks like Emma, I think? but none of the quotes sound familiar, so maybe C? I'd then have to guess Mr Knightley to be Character 1, because Emma's best dialogue is usually with Mr Knightley.

Guessing now (I mean, using LOGIC, absolutely not guessing, oh no):
Picture 7 must be quote E, because they're the only ones too young to have a license.

Annnd... I think that's about as much as I can do. A long way from 200 points! Lovely game, Miss March - I'm just not 'up on' all the old movies. ;)
(I might borrow the game to use on my blog?? That okay?)

  6. NO WAIT I'd like to amend my previous comment!! The Baroness said MAX must be unhappy, which he was because the Captain wouldn't let the children perform. (Don't know what I was thinking...)

  7. I don't know all of these, and I'm not sure of the ones I should know, but this is fun.
A, F, and H. These possibly sound familiar, but I've no idea.

    B. "Still eating, -----? Must be unhappy."
The Baroness (Schraeder or however its spelled) to Max. The Sound of Music. Picture 9.

    C. Character 1: "Lucky guess."
Character 2: "Nothing lucky about it. Just talent, and intuition."
Mr. Knightley and Emma, respectively. Emma. Picture 2.

    D. Character 1: "Oh, why don't you stop annoying people?"
    Character 2: "Well, I'm sorry...HEY!"
George and random boy whose name I don't know, respectively. It’s a Wonderful Life. Picture 5

Picture 7, but I’ve no idea about movie or characters.

    G. Character 1: "I think it's a crime that a woman with your talent--well, I suppose you'd
really have to call it magic--hasn't a family to share it with."
Character 2: "Are you trying to dump those kids off on me? Or are you working on
    something else?
Character 1: "I am merely trying to point out that you have a natural way with
    children!"
Donovan and Dusty (“MAAGnolIA?!”), respectively. Apple Dumpling Gang (my sisters, mom, and I ADORE this movie, and the sequel is pretty great too). Picture 3.

    I. Character 1: "I think if I see another painting I might very well have to scream, Mrs. ------."
Character 2: "I'm quite sure you'd do nothing so un-ladylike."
Character 1: "Don't count on it."
Little Dorrit. Fanny Dorrit and Mrs. Governor or whatever her name is, respectively. Picture 8.

    K. Character 1: "It's a piece of cake."
Character 2: "You mean it ain't gold?"
Theodore and Amos, respectively. Apple Dumpling Gang. Picture 10.
